What is an MOT test?
The MOT test (Ministry of Transport test) is an annual test of vehicle safety, roadworthiness, and exhaust emissions required in the United Kingdom for most vehicles over three years old.
The test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. It's not the same as a service and doesn't check the general mechanical condition of your vehicle.
When do you need an MOT?

Important note
Even with a valid MOT certificate, your vehicle must be in a roadworthy condition at all times. You can be fined for driving a dangerous vehicle.
Penalty for no MOT: Up to £1,000 fine. If the vehicle is deemed dangerous, you could face up to £2,500 fine and 3 penalty points.
